The Willagee Alive Newsletter is produced bi-monthly and provides information about what is going on in Willagee, highlights people and places of interest in Willagee, and is a key tool in joining people together and raising community pride. The newsletter is distributed as an insert in the Melville Times Community Newspaper and is also available at the Willagee Library, local shops, Caralee Primary School and Melville Senior High School. The Team The Willagee Alive Newsletter team put the newspaper together with help from the local community. We currently have six volunteers working on getting the newspaper out to the community every two months. If you would like to join the team, please email us at

The Willagee Alive Team has participated in creating a few ways of supporting a sense of connection and pride in the suburb. Central to the strength of any community is the sharing of current information and also of the history. Probably the most important means of communication is the bi-monthly newsletter. Articles introduce the community to many of the interesting, talented and generous people who live here. It also provides information about businesses, community groups, events and places. The newsletter was started by volunteers, with the help of the Willagee Community Centre staff. Local businesses came on board by funding the printing and distribution to each household. Recently, with a LotteryWest grant, two people have been employed to teach members of the community some of the skills required to run a newsletter.
